My Father’s stories Part 3

“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise…” (1 Corinthians 1:27, ESV).

My father retired from his medical practice at 82 and sometimes talks about patients from his past. (HIPPA was before his time). I was telling him about a patient of mine who had severe exopthalmus, such that I was afraid the eye was going to pop out. My father proceeded to tell me of a patient he had known in his early years, a rather large woman who had suffered an orbital injury. He said that sometimes when she strained too hard the eye would literally pop out of its socket and rest on her upper cheek. Dad said he could hardly believe the picture it brought to mind and he asked her, “What do you do when your eye pops out?”

The lady smiled and said in a matter of fact way, “I just grease it up and pop it back in.”

I’m not sure I believe my Dad on this one. Sure, I trust him, but some things are just not reasonable:

Like the world being created by a simple command.
Like innocent children suffering while a loving God could save them.
Like a dead Jewish carpenter saving mankind.
Like real life after death.
Like Mother Teresa wasting her life with the dying.
Like doctors risking their families to live next door to the poor they are serving.
Like the joy in a Christian doctor who will die soon from cancer.
Like my love for my grandchildren the moment they were born.

Some things are just not reasonable.

So what am I to do with them?

Dear God,
Let me trust you with the unreasonable.

  1. Chiropractic | Massage Therapy
Over the last 100 years, chiropractic medicine has been leading the field as the most natural and non-invasive approaches to treating chronic spinal pain conditions. Chiropractic care focuses on relieving the tension or inflammation to the delicate nerves of the spine. This irritation to spinal nerves is the chief cause of spinal pain. When chiropractic adjustments are given to relieve the pressure placed on the nerves of the spine, relief is noticed almost instantly. This relationship between the spine and nervous system is the main focus of chiropractic treatment. With Chiropractic care, patients not only respond fast to spine pain conditions, but also to conditions of the entire body as well.
